Cinema By The Sea
Michael Keaton’s hot-footing it to Hastings, Nick Cave is whizzing down to Whitstable and Mr Turner’s making for Margate. Every Saturday this March, Film Hub South East will be traveling with their 100 seat state-of-the-art mobile cinema to set up shop in four major seaside towns around the south coast. There’s a brilliant selection of films – and tour dates are as follows:
7th March - Birdman in Hastings in partnership with The Electric Palace.
14th March - Birdman in Deal in partnership with The Astor Community Theatre.
21st March - Mr Turner in Dreamland, Margate.
28th March - 20,000 Days on Earth in Whitstable in partnership with The Horsebridge Arts and Community Centre.
Paddington will be screened in all four of the locations at 5pm. Tickets are priced at an incredibly reasonable £5 and £4 concession.
Rare films of Kent and Sussex will also be screened free from 11.30am - 4.30 pm as part of the Moving History Project. These include : Fun of the Fair - a fascinating peep into the sideshows, rides and crowds at a 1930’s fairground; With the Gypsies in Kent, which documents the life of a Roma family about to visit Canterbury and Shippam’s Guide to Opera! which climaxes with a pilchard and a tomato having a bit of a saucy dance together! What’s not to like?
